Melton Town Centre – Insights

Melton City Council has recently received funding through the State Government’s Suburban Revitalisation Program to invest in the Melton Town Centre. A Board chaired by Steve McGhie MP, State Member for Melton, has been established to oversee the program.

A snapshot of the lifestyle and behaviour patterns observed online was developed by Neighbourlytics in March 2021. This data was collected focussing on a 1km radius catchment for the Town Centre an compared to the Caroline Springs central business district.

Neighbourlytics place data reports provide insights into the social and cultural life of places, with data that is obtained from web skimming, social & big data sources. Snapshot reports were prepared for Melton Town Centre, with comparison reports provided for Caroline Springs.

Insights from the Place Data Report included:

  • Melton Town Centre has a great diversity of place types, with a close proportion of Destinations (24%) to Business & Services (26%) to Community Places (23%).

  • While Business & Services has the highest proportion of places, the place subcategory with the highest proportion is Health & Wellness.

  • Melton Town Centre is more likely to attract locals rather than visitors. While there is a great diversity of place types, there is a low proportion of Attractions, Accommodation, Arts & Culture and other place types that attract people from other areas.
