200+ jobs now open as Amazon staffs Ravenhall fulfilment centre

Amazon Australia has announced applications are now open for more than 200 jobs in Melbourne’s west as it prepares to open a fulfilment centre in Ravenhall later this year.

Available roles range from entry level positions processing customer orders, to team leader positions.

The new fulfilment centre will create around 300 jobs in total, and will more than double Amazon’s operational footprint in Victoria when it opens.

Amazon Australia Director of Operations Craig Fuller said the company was proud to be creating hundreds of new employment opportunities for people in Melbourne’s west at a time when it was needed most.

“There are opportunities for motivated, enthusiastic people from all backgrounds and we look forward to welcoming them to our Ravenhall team,” he said.

The State Government's Jobs Victoria has been working closely with Amazon to advertise the new vacancies on the Jobs Victoria online hub to help source the most suitable local candidates.

City of Melton Mayor, Cr Kathy Majdlik has welcomed the employment boost for the region.

“We’re thrilled that a diverse mix of more than 200 new jobs have been created in the City of Melton. As one of Australia’s fastest growing areas, job creation is critically important and will mean more local families can find quality employment close to home,” she said.

“Amazon’s ability to create these jobs demonstrates the outstanding business opportunities that exist in the City of Melton, including our prime location and growing workforce of professionals, trades people and young job seekers.

“We look forward to our community making the most of these fantastic job opportunities.”

The new fulfilment centre will be 37,000 square metres – almost double the size of the Melbourne Cricket Ground – with capacity to house up to six million items from Amazon.com.au. Amazon’s new Ravenhall FC will complement Amazon’s first Australian FC in Dandenong South which opened in 2017, significantly expanding its operating footprint in Victoria.

Amazon says expanded capacity across the two sites will enable Amazon and its sellers to increase the proportion of items that can be shipped directly to Victorian customers from Melbourne and enable faster delivery.

Amazon has also invested in the expansion of its logistics network in Victoria over the past twelve months, with the opening of two Melbourne Delivery Stations in Mulgrave and Melbourne Airport’s business park which will enable faster delivery to customers around Melbourne. It will continue to invest in its existing fulfilment centre in Dandenong South while growing its fulfilment network with the opening of the new site in Ravenhall.
