Back in person for networking event

The Venture Melton team enjoyed welcoming back our network members in person to our second networking event for the year at Witchmount Estate Wedding and Events on Wednesday 11 May.

With approximately 70 network members in attendance the opportunity for in-person conversation was welcomed, and with the an upsurge in membership over the last few weeks there was a good mix of familiar faces and new members.

Our keynote speaker was Australia’s leading Futurist, Steve Sammartino. Steve has created technology world firsts, written extensively and has a rare ability to communicate it all on stage.

The topic of discussion was “The lessons school forgot: We need entrepreneurs”. Steve says that the one thing we need right now is more entrepreneurs. Not just in the wider world, but also inside our companies.  We need people brave enough to reinvent themselves and find new revenue streams and start-ups inside their own business.

Some key points discussed were that

  • People don’t want more choice; they want more confidence in the choices they make, as too many choices increases the cost in your business.

  • A small innovation increases value in your business. Don’t change the whole thing, just one small thing at a time.

  • Selective perception: look for patterns in the way people respond to social media. How can you make this valuable for your business?

Please enjoy some pictures from the night at our website.

Our next event will be held on 10 August with details to follow.
