$3.7 million Boost for Council Projects
Melton City Council has been awarded $3.7 million through the latest round of the State Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund.
Council has been successful in securing funding towards three new projects:
Banchory Green Reserve Upgrade ($352,000)
Mt Atkinson Active Open Space Precinct ($2,580,000)
Mt Atkinson Children’s and Community Centre ($800,000)
As part of the funding agreement, Council will also make a substantial contribution to each project.
Mt Atkinson developer, Stockland, is also contributing to the Mt Atkinson Active Open Space Precinct Project.
The Growing Suburbs Fund is designed to quickly respond to the pressures experienced by fast-growing and interface outer suburban areas like the City of Melton.
City of Melton Mayor, Cr Kathy Majdlik, said Council was delighted with the State Government’s announcement and contribution to these exciting projects.
“This funding means that vital community infrastructure projects, such as new community centres and parks will get off the ground sooner, which is a great result for community,” Cr Majdlik said.
“I can’t wait to see all these projects come to life, and am looking forward to our residents being able to enjoy these new facilities.
“On behalf of Council, I extend my sincere thanks to the State Government for their ongoing support.”
