Brenton Spiteri and his team have transformed the venue into one of the municipalities most sought after destinations.
For Director Brenton Spiteri and his team, winning the Melton Business Excellence Awards 2025 Business of the Year is the culmination of years of hard work, resilience and a shared vision to transform one of the City of Melton’s most iconic venues. Nearly six years ago, Brenton seized the unexpected opportunity to purchase Witchmount, a place where he had spent two decades photographing weddings. Raised locally, with deep community ties and long-standing business networks, he saw the chance not only to fulfil a personal dream but also to breathe new life into the estate.
Reopening on Valentine’s Day 2020, Witchmount’s new chapter was almost immediately tested by COVID-19 lockdowns. Instead of stepping back, Brenton and his team pivoted quickly, launching takeaway food and wine deliveries across Melton, Caroline Springs, Bacchus Marsh and Eynesbury to stay connected with the community and keep the business alive.
When restrictions lifted, Witchmount returned with a bold new vision. The downtime was used to completely transform its event spaces, unveiling two distinct venues now celebrated for their breathtaking settings, fine wines and premium service. What was once considered a tired building had been reimagined into a modern, in-demand destination, often compared to the Yarra Valley.
Brenton’s 20-year career behind the camera shaped this transformation. His focus on detail, atmosphere and creating unforgettable moments has carried through to every element of the business.

The growth has been rapid and rewarding, driven by repeat clients, word-of-mouth referrals and strong community support.
