Franchise Owner of EzyAccounts EZS, Michael Cranage, has built his practice on one core belief - accounting should be personal, proactive, and partnership driven.
Through a bundled service model that combines bookkeeping, accounting, tax and business advisory, Michael helps local business owners move beyond compliance to gain genuine financial confidence.
“I wanted to give small business owners access to premium, relationship-driven accounting support, without the complexity or jargon,” he explains.
After more than 20 years in the industry, working across both large firms and boutique practices, Michael saw that many small business owners were missing out on proactive advice.
“Meeting your accountant once a year and filling in a checklist isn’t enough,” he says.
That realisation led him to launch EzyAccounts EZS, offering hands-on support and quarterly check-ins designed to keep clients informed and in control.
Having lived and worked in Melbourne’s north-west for more than 15 years, Michael is passionate about supporting local businesses. His family is actively involved in the community through the Lions Club, Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre, and their local cricket club - a reflection of his strong local ties.
Michael’s biggest surprise since starting his business has been that many clients feel uncomfortable asking their accountant questions.
“Too often, people don’t feel supported to ask for advice beyond the basics,” he says.
“I want my clients to feel heard, valued, and confident - to know they can ask anything at any time.”
Looking ahead, Michael’s focus is on growing with clients who value trust, clarity, and long-term relationships.
“Accounting should be about partnership,” he says.
“When clients understand their finances, they make better business decisions - and that’s where real growth happens.”
Outside of work, Michael is a proud dad to three boys, including twins, and can often be found at the local footy or cricket cheering them on.
“At the end of the day, business is about relationships,” he says.
“People connect best when they know the person behind the profession.”
