Thornhill Park’s $45million town centre is set to open in 2023

Residents of Thornhill Park in Melbourne’s west will soon have access to their own $45 million town centre known as Central Square, following the tick of planning approval from Melton City Council.

Situated on an 8,170sqm site, the brand new state-of-the-art town centre is designed by ClarkeHopkinsClarke and will span two levels of approx. 3,500sqm of commercial floorspace.

The centre will be anchored by a supermarket and will be home to a 24/7 fitness centre, a medical centre, a discount pharmacy, a selection of specialty retailers, cafes, and outdoor dining amenities.

The centre design also allows for further activation in the form of weekend markets and stalls.

It will also be home to office spaces ranging in size from 69sqm to 199sqm as a means of providing leasing opportunities for local businesses. The entire town centre will be serviced by 115 onsite car parks.

Located 40kms from the Melbourne CBD, Central Square is being developed by Landmark Developers on behalf of The Central Thornhill Park Pty Ltd and signifies Landmark’s first of many upcoming commercial projects.

Landmark Developer’s Managing Director Chris Kodali said the town centre will be a huge win for the local community as residents currently need to travel 15 to 20 minutes by car for everyday essentials.

“The Thornhill Park estate is quite limited in terms of amenity and residents have recently expressed the frustration of not having everyday essentials within reach. We have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to give back to the community on a local level while also creating local jobs,” he said.

“Central Square will not only service Thornhill Park but surrounding estates too, including our own Talia Estate and is easily accessible via the freeway.”

Throughout the project's lifespan, it is expected to create in excess of 200 construction jobs and approximately 80 full-time jobs once operational.

Since settling on the land in 2021, Landmark has been working closely with the local council to develop the centre plans that can offer premium urban design outcomes for the local community.

Construction on Central square is due to commence in Q4 of this year and will be complete and operational by next year.

A public sod-turning event will be hosted onsite with family-friendly activities in coming months.
