Super Retail Group is coming to the City of Melton

Work has been progressing at pace on Australia’s largest single-storey warehouse at Goodman’s Riding Boundary Road (RBR) Hub in Truganina.

Developers Goodman Group have moved over one million cubic metres of earthworks; and are building over 4kms of new roads and services to assist their customer operations.

At a total 237,000 sqm, RBR Hub will soon be home to Metcash, Super Retail Group and Provincial Home Living and support over 40 stores.

Super Retail Group’s new distribution centre will be built to five-star Green Star rating system standards, and will replace two older distribution centres, helping the company to drive greater supply chain efficiencies from its new Melbourne base.

Construction cost of the facility is estimated to be more than $275 million, and will create approximately 850 jobs during the construction phase.

The long-term lease contains green leasing provisions, meaning Super Retail Group will endeavour to reduce electricity consumption, purchase renewable electricity, minimise operational waste, consider sustainable fitout materials and opportunities for waste recovery. The Goodman development includes sustainable design features such as 1.5 MW of solar, EV charging bays, and rainwater storage, to support Super Retail group in achieving its sustainability targets.

Jason Little, CEO Australia, Goodman Group said the Super Retail Group property was a great example of Goodman partnering with customers to create a high-quality facility with automation to improve productivity and meet its sustainability goals.

“RBR Hub’s close proximity to large consumer populations will also help Super Retail Group meet rising delivery and service expectations, while providing greater resilience for its supply chains and opportunities to be more sustainable,” he said.

Patrick Fountain, General Manager Supply Chain Strategy, said the facility is testament to the investment that Super Retail Group is making in its future supply network to support our business growth.

“It will enhance not just our ability to service our stores and customers, but will also improve the experience of our team members,” said

Construction of the 65,700 sqm facility is expected to be completed in 2025.

Super Retail Group will join Metcash (115,000 sqm), Provincial Home Living and speculative development (40,000 sqm) on Goodman’s super-sized RBR Hub site which is strategically located in Victoria’s Western Urban Growth Zone.

With an estimated population of 3.7 million people within a one hour drivetime, Truganina is an attractive location for Super Retail Group and other customers seeking strong connectivity to consumers and the availability of a skilled workforce.
