Refresh your Online Profile

As the new business year begins, it’s timely to review your online presence and to make sure that the message you are sharing is consistent with your business direction.

  1. Update or Claim your Google Business Profile

A Google Business Profile is a free online listing that can help your business appear in local searches on Google. Head to Google Business to get started.

Areas to optimise on your Google Business Profile include:

    • Adding original photos of your products/service

    • Creating a quick link to your reviews that you can send to customers

    • Replying to reviews, even the negative ones.

  2. Google Yourself

Pop your business name into Google – where are you listed? Head to each of these pages and ensure that the information is relevant and up to date. Also think about if there are words that can be spelled differently, incorrectly or replaced with a symbol, and check these versions as well.

  3. Review your Website

    • Is it functioning properly? Make sure you check both your desktop/laptop browser as well as your phone browser.

    • Is the content up-to-date and engaging? For example, if there are services listed that you no longer offer, or a lack of content about products and services that have become a significant part of your business, this can mean missed opportunities.

    • Consider updated images or a colour palette change may help freshen its appeal.

    • Think about SEO optimisation – don’t know what this is? Then consider some online learning or professional help to raise your profile.

  4. Check and Respond to Online Reviews

A free on-demand tutorial can be found on our Tutorials page which explains why you should use your reviews and how to respond to negative comments.

  5. Check your Venture Melton Business Directory listing

Finally, all City of Melton-based businesses who are members of the Venture Melton Business Network are eligible to have their business listed on the online directory. Head to our online directory to check your listing. If you need changes, simply email us at venturemelton@melton.vic.gov.au.
