Myer to open National Distribution Centre at Ravenhall
Myer is set to join an enviable list of tenants at Dexus’s Horizon 3023 industrial estate in Ravenhall, with the announcement of a new 40,000 square metre warehouse.
Myer has secured a 10-year lease on the facility which will serve as its National Distribution Centre for both stores and online fulfilment, as it looks to bolster its factory-to-customer supply chain and online capabilities.
The state of the art Ravenhall facility will utilise a number of automation solutions to process more than 100,000 stock units for both in-store and online business, with the company anticipating it will handle up to 70 percent of online fulfilment.
The centre will also prioritise stock for stores with highest sell-through, reducing markdowns and boosting sales.
Myer says its physical stores will still be key for click and collect options as well as ‘last mile’ deliveries in some areas.
Myer CEO, John King, said the distribution centre at Ravenhall would be an important step in the company’s Customer First Plan.
“It will deliver an enhanced experience in store and online for our customers but also significant efficiencies for the business through significant benefits from factory to customer,” he said.
“Having a centralised fulfilment centre for stores replaces our historical push model, and will result in improved inventory management, reduced markdowns and maximised sell-through whilst also producing significant efficiencies in our online fulfilment operations.”
Construction of the site is underway, and Myer is expected to begin using the NDC in a phased approach from August 2022.
