Melton Town Centre businesses together for networking night

It was wonderful to see more than 50 businesses come together for the first in-person networking night for the Melton Town Centre (MTC).

The buzz of conversation across the night showed just how in person connection opportunities have been missed.

Attendees started the night with an update on the progress of the Melton Town Centre Revitalisation projects.  More details can be found at the Melton City Council website.

The update also included a look at the new MTC Traders Toolkit, a resource packed with marketing tips and templates to support MTC businesses in promoting both their business and the town centre.  The full set of resources can be viewed on the Melton City Council website

A social media tips and tricks workshop followed, with traders learning the importance of tags and hashtags as a way of supporting each other when posting.  Traders were encouraged to use the tags #MeltonCityMuchMore  #MeltonTownCentre  #LoveYourLocal  #SupportLocal  #BuyLocal as well as tagging @meltoncitymuchmore (Facebook) or @cityofmeltonofficial (Instagram).

The workshop moved into content starter ideas, to help businesses get posting.  Tips included considering content that entertains and inspires, not just promotions or sales posts. Suggested content starters included showcasing products, celebrating annual days, behind the scenes, introducing the team, events, introducing your neighbouring businesses, and posts that ask questions.

Businesses were also encouraged to follow each other on social channels, as well as commenting, liking and sharing posts to increase the reach.

Businesses that couldn’t attend can contact Susan for a copy of the tips sheet provided on the night.
