Local Spending on the Rise
Local businesses have reason to be optimistic, with the latest Spendmapp by Geografia data for the 2025/26 financial year highlighting a 5.5% year on year increase in spending across the City of Melton.
Spendmapp by Geografia is an economic analysis tool that uses anonymised transaction data from banks and financial institutions to track consumer spending patterns. Council has been a Spendmapp subscriber since 2021, using the data to analyse local expenditure, leakage and growth in the local economy.
In May 2026, Total Local Spend in Melton City Council was $235M. Total Local Spend reflects all spending that has occurred within the City of Melton during May, including spending by local residents and spending by visitors.
