Member Spotlight: Pilates and Movement with Marnie

Pilates and Movement with Marnie is a home-based pilates studio in Melton West. With a successfully growing business and loyal customers, the commencement of Stage 3 lockdowns gave this small business an opportunity to move into the online space.

Marnie’s customers didn’t want to miss out on their regular pilates workouts, so Marnie had to look to technology to keep providing a service. But what to do and which platform would work for a group of customers whose tech skills ranged from online everyday through to making their first forays into the online world.

Youtube was Marnie’s first stop, creating a series of short video routines for use at a time that suited each customer. But those customers wanted more, so onto Zoom it was.

A Zoom timetable was launched and Pilates and Movement with Marnie started offering classes at home. These classes were not without challenges, internet connections, pets and small children were all in play, but Zoom has taken off and extended the reach, with clients from interstate now able to re-join classes.

June saw a return to studio classes, socially distanced and sanitized of-course, but Zoom is here to stay for Pilates and Movement with Marnie.

Along with the introduction of Zoom, Marnie has also been using the lockdown period to build her business, taking the time to learn more with Zoom workshops, attending Zoom classes and participating in two massive online Pilates conferences!
