Electrolux Warehouse coming to Ravehall’s Horizon 3023

This week saw another milestone for Dexus’s Horizon 3023 development, as works kicked off on a 20,000 sqm Electrolux distribution centre.

Melton City Mayor Cr Kathy Majdlik joined Councillors and Electrolux and Dexus representatives at the Ravenhall site to mark the commencement of works on Thursday.

Standing at 13.7 metre high on a 37,500 sqm site, the warehouse will create jobs for both unskilled warehouse teams and skilled appliance technicians, and will be a leader in Electrolux’s global warehousing operations. The project will create 215 jobs in construction and around 40 jobs in operation.

Electrolux representatives said site reaffirms their long-term commitment to their Australian operations, and is a long-term investment in their sustainable future. The warehouse will be a six green star rated facility, the first of its kind for Electrolux in Australia and the Asia Pacific region.

Electrolux joins three other facilities which will open at Horizon 3023 by the end of this year; Scalzo Food Groups, HelloFresh and Estore Logistics. Electrolux aims to move into the facility by the end of December.

Horizon 3023 is Dexus’s largest industrial development site, spanning 130-hectares, adjoining Caroline Springs train station.

Dexus plans to develop up to 500,000 square metres of prime commercial and industrial property at the site, with potential to create more than $500 million in prime industrial facilities over a five-year period.

The second stage benching and servicing at the site will bring online around 60 hectares of developable land with commitments in excess of 130,000sqm.

In all, Horizon 3023 will create over 9,000 direct employment jobs within the estate.

Mayor Cr Kathy Majdlik said large developments such as Horizon 3023 were an important asset for the Melton community, creating supply chain opportunities at a grassroots level and delivering sustainable and valuable local jobs for residents.

“The Horizon 3023 development is bringing all this and so much more to our municipality,” she said.

“Along with over 24,000 direct, supply chain and consumption-effect jobs, this truly is fantastic news for our community, and the thousands of businesses based in our City—businesses like Electrolux who are cementing their commitment, and interests in Melbourne, and indeed, Australia, by investing in the City of Melton.”

“As one of the most vibrant and dynamic growth areas in the heart of Melbourne’s west, we are committed to creating a robust and vibrant environment that nurtures strong business and employment opportunities for our whole community, and develop infrastructure and services that support our rapid growth,” Cr Majdlik said.
