Conquering the Crisis…and Open for Business - Video Series
To date, the Economic Development and Tourism Team at Council has conducted 1,171 COVID-19 check in calls with our local Business community. We sincerely thank those that have shared their operational status amid a series of shutdown orders.
If there is anything that came through for us during these phone engagements it’s that running a small business can be both a lonely and united experience. It’s lonely in the sense that no two businesses are the same. Every business operator has had to deal with a unique set of circumstances and factors that are specific to their business. On the other hand, it’s united in the sense that small business owners stick together and learn from one another.
To draw on these insights, we are excited to share with you Venture Melton’s COVID-19 business series. These are stories that members of this network group shared during our phone chats and resonated so well with a business community built on perseverance, life changing decisions, innovation and community bonds.
Conquering the Crisis… and Open for Business
…. Is your playlist of short videos reflective of this extraordinary moment in time for a business owner, employee, customer and family! Soulfully true, personal stories that will not only inspire other business owners, but also serve to spark useful and inspirational thinking amongst business peers.
Today we introduce the first of the series:
Brenton Spiteri - Witchmount Estate Function Centre
Brenton Spiteri shares the excitement of taking over the business of his dreams in February 2020 only to have COVID-19 restrictions take over a few weeks later, effectively bringing business operations to a halt. He had to quickly rethink how to generate revenue to be able to pay staff and overheads. A story of team and community collaboration and a defining entrepreneurial endeavour for Brenton that will not only see him through the COVID-19 restrictions but well prepared for any future business disruptions.
