The huge new Bunnings Warehouse currently under construction in Melton will create around 50 additional jobs in the local community when it opens in early 2021.

Bunnings Area Manager, Mary Corso said this week building works were progressing well at the site, located on the Corner of Melton Highway and High Street.

The new premises will be more than 5,000 square metres larger than the existing store, with an additional 200 car parks.

The building will feature an energy-efficient design, with LED lighting, a solar panel system generating 30 percent of the store’s energy needs, as well as additional insulation to improve thermal efficiency.

The store represents an investment of more than $40 million and will span nearly 18,000 square metres, with parking for over 500 cars.

It will offer customers a wider range of home and lifestyle products and will feature new in-store concepts, including bathroom displays, a kitchen design centre, an extended artificial plant range, a new flooring concept, door selector and storage displays, as well as a rural fencing and landscaping section.

It will also include a larger nursery, a new look trade desk, commercial paint area and a five-lane timber trade drive through.
