Pad Thai Melton
Working together to deliver!
Pad Thai Melton has been a Melton institution for over 15 years. The owners Pat and his sister Lee started the business to share their love of Thailand and it’s cuisine with the community. Pad Thai Melton now has customers from all across Australia, who use the restaurant for their family celebrations.
Over time, they have grown the business, expanding into an outdoor dining area, as well as offering a range of Thai cooking classes. These classes became so popular that they then grew into a side businesses that involved taking groups to visit Thailand. Starting with just 10 people these tour groups grew to up to 40 people at a time.
The community connection doesn’t stop there, Pad Thai has also offered scholarships for local school students, has supported junior workers to develop their food and beverage skills through to management level and even taught a Junior Masterchef some recipes to use in competition.
Pad Thai has continued to operate throughout the Covid-19 restrictions, however when the 5km travel limit was put into place, many of their regulars could no longer visit. So a solution was needed.
Pat developed a delivery schedule to cater to residents across Eynesbury, Aintree, Thornhill Park, Rockbank and Bacchus Marsh, encouraging residents to pre-order online or via their app. But Pat didn’t stop there, working with two other local restaurants, he also was able to offer delivery of Chinese and Vietnamese meals, supporting these venues to also open up delivery to a wider audience.
Working together to find a solution has not only helped Pad Thai Melton to remain successful during these challenging times. It’s great to see opportunity shine through, particularly looking to your neighbours and peers to work together rather than competing against one another.
If this has made you hungry you can check out the menu and order online at the Pad Thai Melton website.
