Welcome to Trinh’s Kitchen

Nestled in the shopping strip on Exford Road, you’ll find a recently-opened takeaway which serves some of the most authentic Vietnamese delicacies in Melton.

From making a simple yet delicious banh mi, to the complex flavours of a rich Vietnamese curry, owner Jack Trinh is passionate in serving the best Vietnamese cuisine to the people of Melton South.

Ask Jack what makes him tick and why he picked hospitality as a trade, and the answer comes easily.

“Growing up in a family with a strong passion for food, I love cooking and I cook all the time,” he said.

“I love to cook healthy and tasty foods for my family, my friends. What more can I ask for, when now I can combine my hobby into my trade and I can pursue that passion as a livelihood at the same time.

“Our Asian-inspired menu goes a long way with tasty noodle soups, to flavoursome finger foods such as spring rolls and dim sims.

“We also specialise in traditional Vietnamese food, especially the Vermicelli salad, pho and banh mi.”

We asked Jack what kick-started his professional food journey.

“I came to Australia to be trained as an Agricultural Technician but my passion for cooking overtook that.

“I was lucky enough to start my first part-time job as a kitchenhand in a very busy restaurant in Mildura.  After a few weeks, I started learning how to use a wok, how to cook popular Asian foods, along with a great deal of Western dishes.

“I went on to start my own business four years ago, also called Trinh's Kitchen, in Gisborne.

“We have since built up the name as a well-known Vietnamese restaurant in town, which is providing dine-in and takeaway services.”

Jack said the decision soon came to expand his Gisborne business into Melton.

“I had been in Melton several times and realized the potential in this growing municipality,” he said.

“I can see that this place has so many opportunities, with a huge increase of population and government investment projects.  It was opportune that I found out from one of my friends that there was a shop for sale, so I immediately took it on as my own.”

Jack’s dream is that everyone who visits Trinh’s Kitchen gets to share his love of food, culture and family.

“I couldn’t be happier that I made a great choice!”

Visit Trinh’s Kitchen to dine in, or order online at their website, or on Menulog, Door Dash or Uber Eats.
