Instone Interiors create stone luxury in Melbourne’s West
For owner Sam Hamid, opening his business Instone Interiors was the fulfilment of hard work and passion.
“I have always admired natural stone and love to create marble tables, so it became an absolute passion creating distinctive stone furniture,” he says.
“I have been surrounded with stone from around the globe, being a third generation family-run stone business”
Sam sources stone from around the world, then cuts and shapes each order personally.
"Each order takes about three weeks to make. I make sure that each piece is made to a high standard.
“In every piece of furniture, I line up the grains and patterns so it is seamless, using the same single stone for each order."
Sam said that opening in Ravenhall was an easy choice.
"Ravenhall is a great location that’s close to all facilities.
“Large companies like Amazon have based themselves here because they know that this is a great location as well.”
His creations have caught the eye of social media influencers, who have featured his pieces on their Instagram posts, giving his brand an even greater audience.
“Social media has been key to my business success. Customers have ordered from me because they have seen it on a social media influencer's page, and they want one.”
As for many local businesses today, the lack of manufacturing workers is an issue.
“Finding someone willing to learn this trade is very challenging and it is very hard to find the right candidate to train and work with. But it is my passion and I love what I do,” Sam says.
“If you don’t love what you’re doing, then why are you doing it?"
As for future plans, Sam says he aims to expand and move to a larger warehouse facility that will cater to the growing demand for his high-quality stone furniture pieces.
