Brotherhood of St Laurence: supporting community

With a focus on building the capacity of individuals and the community, Brotherhood of St Laurence, Melton recognises that economic and social participation are indispensable components to a life of common dignity.

The Brotherhood of St. Laurence (BSL) is a social justice organisation working alongside people experiencing disadvantage to address the fundamental causes of poverty in Australia.

BSL has partnered with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) to deliver Local Area Coordination (LAC) and early childhood services for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in Brimbank and Melton.

Since opening their doors in Melton in 2018, the team has worked to develop strong connections with community members, local businesses, and services.

As the local NDIS community partner, they work alongside people with disability to provide support to access the NDIS and connect with funded supports, community supports and mainstream services.

The BSL NDIS office in Melton welcomes people from the community who might need assistance with gaining access to NDIS or connecting with community services.

BSL can help people who live with disability identify and pursue lifestyle goals by developing a plan and links to mainstream or community services.

If you meet the access requirements for funded support, BSL will help you to engage with the NDIS and to exercise choice and control over the reasonable and necessary supports you can receive.

BSL NDIS focuses their service on building the capacity of individuals and the community, recognising that economic and social participation are indispensable components to a life of common dignity.

They have a team of coordinators who are determined to make a positive impact and are always willing to help.

Team members have extensive experience working with people from diverse backgrounds, providing a safe and inclusive environment to ensure everyone feels welcomed and supported.

BSL NDIS are available to speak with local employers about supporting the employment of people with a disability or to answer questions about engaging with the NDIS or the BSL services.
